From I-25 north or south: follow exit signs for Walsenburg and Hwy 160 west towards Sand Dunes National Park. Take Hwy 160 west to the town of Blanca. Across from Red Rocks General Store turn north on Broadway. At the end of that road turn left, then take the first right on Cedar Ave. Follow Cedar straight back and it will lead you right into our farm.
From Alamosa: Take Hwy 160 East into the town of Blanca and follow the directions above.
By the time you get to Walsenburg (for those coming from the East) you may be wondering if you will EVER arrive. Here is a little “signage” that can encourage you along your way.
Entering the San Luis Valley - at the top of La Veta Pass, you are now 30 miles from our home. This is my favorite sign, no matter what time of year.
The road down the pass is wide and easy. Very "horse trailer friendly".
This Elk sign located between Fort Garland and Blanca is for real - you will be driving between alfalfa fields for 4 miles, and elk can be anywhere, especially in winter!
Now you know your trip is almost over. Notice all the numbers are about altitude, not population! Government likes big numbers…
Cedar Avenue can feel like the longest part of the trip, stretching 4 miles due north out of town. Don’t let your guard down, however - the neighbors tend to hang out in the road!
